Volgend op zijn verblijf aan de UC Berkeley (VS) in de lente van 2022 als houder van de PP Rubens Leerstoel, ontwikkelt partner Nikolaas Vande Keere een doctoraat met als werktitel Repair of contentious heritage: A social and political approach to the built environment at the intersection of architecture and conservation. Het project bouwt verder op zijn onderzoeksseminarie Contentious Heritage: Adaptive Reuse in Theory and Practice, gegeven aan het College of Environmental Design en de daaraan gekoppelde publiekslezing in Berkeley. Voor dit doctoraat zal Prof. Christoph Grafe, decaan van Architectuurgeschiedenis en -theorie aan de BU Wuppertal (DE), de rol opnemen van promotor.
